For organizations and individuals interested in participating in Canada's Healthy Workplace Week 2006, this page will provide you with a selection of ideas and activities that can be adapted to fit your needs.
The Activities are separated into 3 sections:
- Activities to Enhance your Personal Well-being
- Activities to Support Managers
- Activities for Organizations to Implement
and
Many of the activities were provided by consultants who practice in the field of organizational health and wellness.
ACTIVITIES TO ENHANCE YOUR PERSONAL WELL-BEING
These activities are designed for individuals to use on their own to develop their personal health and well-being.
Intermediaries and Program Coordinators - feel free to incorporate this information into your company materials (i.e. intranet, company newsletter) and make it available for employees.
For individuals, use the personal planner [PDF] as your own guide for ideas and activities to participate in the week.
Activity 1: Healthy Lunches to Go [PDF]
Take the CHN Healthy Lunches to Go Tour and learn how fast and easy it can be to pack healthy and delicious lunches for the whole family. This activity offers nutrition information and tips, including how to read nutrition labels and what ingredients to watch out for. It also looks at some of the challenges we all face in making healthy lunches part of our daily routine, and suggests simple steps for dealing with them.

Activity 2: 9 Opportunities for Balance [PDF]
Finding balance in our lives is not an "either/or" proposition. If you would like a life balance tune up, take this assessment and determine where you have the greatest opportunities for improving balance in your life.

The following activities are designed to assist managers and team leaders in building healthier work teams and achieving healthy outcomes.
Intermediaries and Program Coordinators - feel free to circulate these activities to your department managers and team leaders and encourage them try these out with their teams!

Use the Organizational Health Audit to build awareness about workplace health within your organization. It will also help you recognize workplace initiatives that positively influence employee and organizational well-being!

The Canadian Healthy Workplace Criteria was developed to create a strategic model that would help organizations set goals and manage their organizational health, by the National Quality Institute (NQI) in collaboration with Health Canada and leading professionals.
